i been trying to play much more agressive, notmally id fold hands like KJ AT 89s etc out of the blinds, especially if there was only a single late raiser, mainly because i see no value in these hands out of position - i either hit my KJ pair and win a small cbet or lose a big pot to AK or hit middle pair and fold the turn. Now ive just been 3betting them all, as long as the oponent looks like he could be just opening light to steal. thinking of all the times i open crap hands from the button and fold to a raise shows how often they would do it too. i have had varying success, but on the most part it seems to work well, furthermore i felt like it caused people to get pissed off with me and bluff me more postflop or call me down light. a lego poker video i watched today recommended some other video which talks alot about 3 betting so im guna watch that and see what it has to say. i think there is alot of money to be made by restealing late raises, or just plain taking the initiative in hands where a cbet in a 3bet pot gets alot of respect.
another sweet move ive never really used before is the tank call. say i flop a great hand like top set where i crush the board , id tank call the flop and it cause people to go crazy bluffing. here is an example. i tank called the flop and turn and trapped this guy:
in this one i 3bet from the blinds as i had been doing, and here the guy decides to take a stand and 4 bets me. i tank call his 4bet as i feel he is bluffing here nearly always. if he thinks im stealing light he would call with a big hand and try and get max value. by tank calling the flop he must think i have TT 99 or 88. because he turns a pair of Jacks and bets for value lol...he was a regular so its not like he was just a monkey clicking buttons.
my last hand is an example of a tough spot i sometimes found myself in. here i had no idea what the hell he had so i just folded. but i dont like not knowing whats going on so this hand annoyed me.
hopefully watching some more of these videos will be helpful. the ones i watched seemed pretty standard, and i even felt like they wernt doing some things right. the best one was watching a guy go through his hand history in a big tornament. i never realised how too tight i played in these things. he constantly stole blinds and kept his stack healthy. was pretty impressive.
Bankroll hasnt changed since yesterday....

KQ or set? why didnt u raise flop? Draw heavy board. He probly thinks u have AK/99 etc.
ReplyDeleteif i raise flop i think i overrepresent my hand after i 3bet to look like AA KK, so id think only sets or JT would call?
ReplyDeletewhen r u guna organise a live game
Wait why would he donk into a 3 bet pot?
ReplyDeleteA raise only cost you about $13 anyway. Which was the amount u called on the turn. Even if he calls your $13 raise, u will probly get to a river for free (unless he donk bets again), then can check fold if need be. I wouldnt be able 2 fold, but ur a pokergod. What are his stats, i.e. 3betcall%? Could he possibly be betting with KJ/QJ. I still dont understand his donk bet into a 3bet pot. He would have 2 check raise sets and J10. Probly a donk and u got bluffed!!! or possibly the KQ.
When I get time off work. Possibly next tuesday....
Wanna head 2 casino thurs or friday night? I work from 3-(until required) which is usually about 8. Could just meet u there. Ill give ya a txt 2moro anyway.
i think your right, i notice when they just start pot betting its mostly with bluffs. was just such a weird spot for him to do it
