porbly guna b long...

well havent blogged in ages so ill get into it. 2 home games this weeks to make up for last weeks faliure. finished up a couple of buyins both nights so went pretty good.

first night was too long ago to remeber anything. i hit a fair amount of good hands verse luke but he kept folding the turn to my raise. i thought it was kinda funny how it felt like me tim and luke were the like sharks slowly taking everyones money to finish up with nearly all the chips. think we all played solid, tim seems to have gotten over his stack off with any overpair problem lol.

last night i got off to a hot start and was up to like 300-350 from my original 50 buyin. flopped nut flush verse times T high flush for a stack. won AK v AK all in pf cause mine was suited verse the kid haha. made a mint call verse the kid again. i 3bet 67 on the button and he called from sb. flop was 78K with a flush draw i think and i cbet but he calls. turn brings me 2pair on 74K6 so i bet again big and he slowly calls. 74K68 river brings an obvious straight and he insta shoves. i take ages but call. the problem is he seldom bluffs in big pots. but i decided he isnt good enough to value bet any hands other than a straight here, and it very unlikely he has a 5 in his range from calling my 3bet and how the hand played out.he shows busted flush draw.

i made another sweet call the other night. been watching alot of deuces cracked vids and its helping me think through hands better and make sick calls. this one was verse tom. 3 way to a flop of 6Qx it was checked around. i lead a 6QxQ turn for half pot with 64 to tkae it down or get luke to call me with worse lol. both call. river is like a nine so i bet small like half pot and tom raises me huge. i tihnk he wouldnt play a Q like that he would raise the turn or make a smaller river raise. i call and he shows A high.

another good one was verse tom. i have AA and i raise some limpers on the button, only he calls. KKx flop and i cbet only for him to check raise me to $30. im 99% confident i have best hand cause how often does he limp call a K and then y would he scare me off wen im most likely bluffing. i check behind turn to induce a bluff. river makes the board kinda scary and he bets again but i have to call and was still good.

i also called down luke with K high for 3bets in a small pot. board was super scary and i felt like he isnt value betting anything worse than a flush or straight and was just trying to get a fold. it happened again last night after i checked behind AxxKx and he bet out river after 3way it was checked around so i called with 44.

i played 2 big hands verse luke and he blogged about one quite wrong lol. i opened 52s MP and hayden 3bets me. i think i have a pretty good tell on him and thought he didnt have a great hand here cause he looked VERY happy every other time he 3bet and had shown KK AA etc. luke called on button so i 4bet a little too small in hindsight $6 to $20. he folds AQ but luke calls and hits trips on 99Q. i feel like him to call a 4bet he has a pair JJ or worse and i can get him off it. so i bet $35 and he calls. turn is another Q and i check to him hoping he was couterfitted or if he has a Q he is going to bet and im folding. checked through and i have to stab the river cause i have no showdown value and if i check im too easily bluffed here. i took ages to bet and i wanted him to think i had AA or KK and was making a thin bet and lay down his JJ TT or fold anything else which is playing the board basically. but he had a nine :(

anohter hand i cbet w 55 on T42 all suited with a pair and a spade. i tihnk luke calls with worse pairs or a draw, so i can win the hand multiple ways. turn is an ofsuit 8 an i check behind - probly to call a river bet. river brings a 5 and luke bets out. i didnt really realise it was an overbet at the time. i have to raise here cause he will call with 2pairs and lower set most likely, or perhaps even lighter if he puts me on a missed A high flush draw. so i made it pretty big to look like a bluff. he took sooo long to call it was basically a slowroll and i was positive i had the best hand :( he has 2nd set.

i cant think of too many others but i had alot of cool hands last night. i liked the new guys they were pretty descent and agressive. unlike someone like hamish who played super weak tight to an almost laughable level. as long as we never invite that one gay guy again that luke mentioned. everything about him is 100% douchebag from the leather jacket to the constant annouces to the table how an actual girl is txting him. holy shit i hate that guy. lucky he cashed out after like 20 mins.

so last night i finished off 100 up. basically just lost 2 huge hands verse luke for a total of 180 to 200 dollars. its all good though i liked them both fine. i bluffed the new guys several times all in at the start too cause i knew they would be scared and it worked. tim was pretty quiet last night actually. he got flush over flushed twice lol.

ONLINE
gave rush a solid effort, playing most nights after work but just cant get a winrate going so i gave up. donked around a lot playing like heads up and tourneys but got back into it on the weekend and played some 100NL. up 250 after 5 hours or so i think. ran a buyin over ev which was nice. now im trying to watch one deuces cracked video a night rather than playing poker cause im too tired after work and at best bring my B game. my goal is to "fix" my redline cause i know im playing to weak. one GREAt piece of advice ive picked up is to increase ur redline its not about bluffing more! its about betting thin and stealing in very +ev spots. ive doubled my 3bet% up to 6%, although small sample but i was just trying to play big pots in position and it was working well. 3betting with high hands though like QJ off was best cause i could still value bet or get to showdown unlike if i 3bet 65s where i have to win by bluffing. i also played looser with a vpip/pfr of 20/16. 2 reasons. i learned if u open the sb forr 3x the bb must defend over 40% for it to b non profitable. another cool tip is is u hold an A and 3bet they are 20% less likely to hold a premium. these things add up.
i watched an especially good video on note taking and bet size tells. this is especially good against fish where you can watch a few hands and make generalisations like 'bets pot as bluff' etc and they can make calling alot easier with marginal hands rather than "ah hes a fish he is just probly bluffing here". takes alot of concentration to catch good notes while 8 tabling though. also thinking about ranges and what ppl r repping much much more, this has already helped me alot at our live game do some nice calls.
a small example i really liked was this.
ur in the bb and call a buton raise, on a flop of KTx the button checks behind the flop. 99% of the time here he has some showdown value but is kind of weak. if he has air he cbets a K high board 100% of the time. moral of the story is if you have a strong hand you should lead out pot on the turn, they will always call here cause they 'induced a bluff". if you have a weak hand you cant stab and give up you have to fire the river too. same with if someone opens early/MP and checks behind a lowish flop. he most likely has Ax here and you have to bet twice to take it down. lots of other stuff but this isnt a blog for that.

dam i tihnk i just put more effort into that than i did at work all day...

  1. Yeah, I did post about that hand completly wrong. I thought it felt funny writing about it. I just read it again and it doesnt even make sense. Alright, you raise utg, so with all the dead money in the pot, you could represent a hand like AA from utg. But I thought you were pretending, and we were deep. Then the rest makes sense.

I forgot about those phenom calls. 44 with 5 overcards. Pffff. Haha. You must have a read. They were both sick calls.

I like being the sharks. Its true, basicly cos we play EVERY night till 2pm, and play deepest vs everyone. We have just gotten alot more comfortable than the newbies who nurse $40 stacks the entire night. It all about the amount of experience I reakon, learn more each time we play. Our live bankrolls have gone straight up... 45degrees. Maybe were just running good?

This comment should almost be a blog, yo those videos, what stakes are you watching? NL100 I guess? Man I always got fucked by inducing a bluff. Guess people were another level above me. I tried to counter it by doing it with strong hands. By strong I mean AK on K high boards. Sometimes it saved me money, cos they would do that with sets etc, but when I get 2 river and decide to raise them, I still got fucked.

  2. well for me i guess i used to be kinda scared/nervous for watever reason playing live but now its just the norm. so its much easier to think clearly when u r relaxed. money isnt so big to me so i can make the calls/bluffs that r +ev that i wouldnt have done b4. im trying to look out for tells and stuff alot more now too and i definately have some good ones. especially on tom haha.

i been watching the 100 200Nl vids. im watching a pure theory series at the moment though. boring as hell to look at a powerpoint slides but real good stuff if i can stay awake.

  3. I need to get my shit together and come play some live. I'm a bit scared now that you and Luke are officially sharks of the table though. Less hands per hour = smaller loss per hour = better than playing online at the moment for me
